New codes, 1310, 0304.

96t. On start up, feeling like not running on all 5 cylinders. CEL, codes popped up. Seems to run fine after a very few minutes, this is a cold start event. Lasts just 1-2 minutes at the most. Thinking both codes related to TPS? It's possible that's one thing I have never replaced on this car. Best way to proceed?

1310 might be a MAF signal - you can unplug the MAF and see if that helps on startup.

In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

I'll do that. Current plan is to remove throttle body, deep clean and swap out TPS, mostly overdue anyway. Open to all input and suggestions, however. Keep them coming.

Large air leak (hose from MAF sensor to turbo was just hanging from the turbo side) so all cleaned up and replaced, adjacent vacuum lines tightened. Will pull the plugs and inspect and compression test why not. Haven't run it except briefly so will have to see. Cleaned up rotor and distributor, checked all wires, all of which are not old, and OEM Volvo. Will leave throttle body and TPS for another day. Disconnected MAFS nothing dramatic happened. So, maybe resolved, at least significant findings along the way.

Both codes are related to misfire.

P0304 is misfiring on cylinder #4.
P1380 is misfire emission level on at least 1 cylinder. In this case #4.
Because codes P0300 - P0303 & P0305 are missing. Focus should be on #4 only.

P0300: Misfire more than 1 cylinder.
P0301: Misfiring on cylinder #1.
P0302: Misfiring on cylinder #2.
P0303: Misfiring on cylinder #3.
P0304: Misfiring on cylinder #4.
P0305: Misfiring on cylinder #5.

Start with #4 plugs, wires, injector, air leaks and compression.

To check for air leaks. Start the engine then spray Starting Fluid around the #4 intake manifold port. If there is a leak it will suck in the starting fluid and the engine will surge. If you detect an air leak at #4. Tighten any loose bolts. It that does not correct it, replace the intake manifold gasket. It is possible that it leaks when cold then seals up as the engine warms up. So do the test with a stone cold engine.
