I searched the forum to see if anyone had tips for removing a rear quarter window without damaging the heater element from a junkyard car. I saw a YouTube video where a pair of guys used a garage door wire to saw through the adhesive, pulling it back and forth and working their way around until the window was free. I think it's better to have a mobile window glass guy meet me at the junkyard to pull it from the matching vehicle and install it on my wagon. It's the right rear corner. There is a heating element that would be ruined by the technique I saw.
The reason why the glass broke is because my partner was using her Volvo to tow an overload trailer, was going down Independence Pass in Colorado when it started to sway, and she was driving as slow as she could to prevent it from getting worse.
An asshole with a wildly swaying flatbed roared by her and his trailer knocked her Volvo and trailer into the ditch, causing the damage on the driver side. He kept driving down the hill, and there was no police report. My partner had lied down, feeling dizzy, and an idiot paramedic thought she had a neck injury and put her on a gurney and took her to the hospital. So she wasn't present at the site where she could have called the sheriff to report the accident and give a description of the vehicle that caused the accident.. A predatory tow company showed up and pulled the Volvo out of the ditch with a tow hook that punctured her radiator and then destroyed the trailer in their attempt to get it out of the ditch. Incompetent assholes. A friend of hers later got the Volvo for her and they disavowed any responsibility for the trailer. I replaced a bent strut in the rear, bought some junkyard tries, and had the car aligned so it was drivable.
I recently had a mobile body work guy use two techniques to pull dents; one was heating with a blow torch, then using a suction cup to pull the dent on a door; the second was using a dent puller that screws in, creating small holes, and pulls as much of the quarter panel dent out as possible. My job now is to grind the holes so some bare metal is exposed and the surface is smooth (already done), then to apply bondo to fill the cavities. I goofed on my first try and put too much in the deep dents (First timer mistake!). The other flatter areas may have had a bit too much applied too, making it harder to sand by hand. I'll use my mouse sander to speed the process. Grey primer is being applied as I complete sections of the work, then I will spray a top coat with matching paint color. I also need to apply the transparent coat, and do that on the hood where it starting to peel. I think the technique there is to feather the edges with sand paper, mask off the good parts, and spray the transparent coat and sand so it looks good.
All that remains is for a body shop to align the frame so the rear door and tail gate close (I replaced the struts, so the tailgate can fly open on a hard bump; I have to use a bungee cord to keep it from opening now).
Now I know to apply thin coats, wait for them to dry, and be patient in order to get a good result.

That wire isn’t a heater. It’s an antenna.
IIRC, there’s a snap connector that will
disconnect it. Should be pretty easy.
Sorry to hear about this incident.
Sounds like a a real crossroads of
nasty business. Gotta dashcam?

I’m willing to try remove mine from a parts car before I scrap it. Can you link the videos here so I can see them?
