850 and 98-00 V70 3rd Row Seat possibly for sale (SOLD)

Post by scot850 »

I picked up a 3rd Row seat using ericv11's very helpful 'How-to' (now in the database and many thanks!). See my original post here with the link:

https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =1&t=74863

The problem I am having is whether to keep it or not. I had thought about fitting it to my 2000 'R' wagon, but I honestly can't see me using it for a long time if at all (grand-kids are a way off it at all!).

Also as my car never came with it part of me says not to fit it.

It is a bulky item to have lying around (same as my wife says of me!), so I am now pondering the 'Keep it' or 'Sell it'. I looked on line and could not find another for sale to even get a comparison for sale, and I believe they are no longer available new (happy to be corrected).

I've attached pictures below and as I always appreciate your opinions and thoughts, should I keep it or sell it. Part of me says sell as I'd rather see someone get use of it that it sitting in a pile in my garage.
All the parts for 3rd row seat

It wasn't until I laid all the parts out I realised how many parts there are to this conversion!
Bolts and brackets for 3rd row seat

Brackets, bolts, seat belt anchor and the obsolete plastic insert for the back of the 2nd row seat to lock the 3rd row backrest in. Not sure if the bracket in the middle with the 3 holes in belongs to this, but found it in with the other stuff.
Spare wheel side carpet and seat belts

LH rear trunk area floor panel (RH side is also included)
LH trunk floor panel mark on carpet

Only real fault in all the parts is this glue (?) mark on the LG trunk side panel.

There are no rips or tears. Some slight indents on the seats where they had been poorly stores in the trunk of the car they came from. Otherwise all of it is very clean. All cover boards are charcoal/black.

3rd seats for P80s have not been for sale new for about 12-13 years now.
Didn't see if you also have the receptacle that has to be installed into the back of your rear seat (or the seat won't stay locked up)
Would I do it now on a car this old, never.
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

Sorry but no. I will go to the page and detail it sold. It went to a gentleman in NYC area and shipping was about $125 US so not too horrible considering USPS charged my brother $130 US to ship a package with a carpet set which was about half the size and weight!

How much did it sell for? There's one in a local junkyard I may go get if it's worth my time.

It would be an interesting option for your new car, and of course it would be sad to see it crushed since they are pretty scarce.
You might want to PM Neil about the sale. He usually has a stash of bits, he may even have that door piece you're looking for.

At the junkyard I paid about $100 if I recall. Make sure you get the latch lock in the back of the rear seat. It is plastic and easily broken. I took a cold chisel but a battery sawzall would be better to cut it out as it can be easily removed after cutting around it. It can be removed without cutting it out but it it 50/50 in breaking it and it is NLA as a part.

Take the seat belts and the latch on the floor as well as the spare wheel mount. I believe it is different to the standard one. Also there should be a spare wheel cover, wood I think for the feet to rest on.

Good Luck!
