2004 Xc70 cross country. Headlamps need to replace bulb.. how
My driver side headlights went out ..it looks like only one bulb for high and low beam . Is it a dipped .? CUS when I pull on lite switch and I'm looking in the reflection I see the light that is working it just tilts up and down . . Tell me is it just the one bulb . And how do I take it off . I don't have the 2 clips that hold the light assembly . Do I have to take the bumper off like I'm seeing in some videos

Would help if you posted a picture. For my 2001 and 2002 XC70s of the past, there is an access door. Open it and you can see the bulbs - spring loaded retainer and a tab alignment is my recollection.
A picture would help if you do not figure it out.

This sounds like the auto leveling HID’s that some XC70’s came equipped with. If the reflector tilts up & down it must be HID. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
There are 2 circular cups that you can remove for bulb access. I haven’t had to replace one of my HID’s yet (I’m literally knocking on wood) so can’t help you further than that. You may google search for ‘HID bulb replacement on S60R/V70R’ as they had very similar headlights to your HID’s.
See below.

The bulbs come out through the access door, the bumper does come off to remove the whole headlight, though.
Etiquette...typing in all caps is considered ‘yelling’ on a forum, so we reserve that for “ emergencies”

The bumper comes off easily, there are 2 bolts in the front that are hidden behind 2 square trim pieces, then there are 2 screws by the fenders that remove the locking mechanism. Removing those 4 will let you remove the bumper. However, If you have skinny arms and long fingers, you can do it without removing the headlight.
