A general thank you to Matt and the entire MVS Community in this subforum for all of the help and advice I have had available to me over the years. While I am at it, I will also thank Robert Spinner for all of his videos and for what he has contributed here. I'm a pretty fair amateur mechanic and willing to take on just about anything, but the preparation I am able to do by using these online resources has been just so helpful. I just might have muddled through somehow on my own with some sort of service manual, but it would have been much more difficult, most likely more expensive, and darn it I just enjoy the community and being connected with people who have the same enthusiasm and willingness to dive into things that I have. My Volvos are a great source of enjoyment for me (even with their oddball quirks), and I am very grateful to everyone in this online community. Thank you all.
A General Thank You!

I got a phone call from a forum member the other day, troubleshooting something non-car related.
We discussed how most every other forum has a cadre of brash, arrogant experts who enjoy leaking out a bit of information on a task, then using the forum to drive business to their sites when they can.
I love how MVS is, by comparison, open source, friendly, congenial, and punctuated by Oxford commas and semicolons; the herald of the Masters and Commanders of Communication.

What a nice post. Thanks for this, Eddystone. Thanks to you and everyone here who has ever shared in any capacity to help someone else.Eddystone wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 05:29 A general thank you to Matt and the entire MVS Community in this subforum for all of the help and advice I have had available to me over the years. Ain't it grand?
Yes, I hear you on the Facebook thoughts. It's a nuthouse. But even more than that, it has a very short memory. Ever try to add to (or even find) something you once saw on it? A DIY? Impossible. FB goes back a day or two, then things become hard to find, and even if you do, nobody takes notice.
FB reminds me, no pun intended, of Henry Molaison. Nintey-nine percent of Volvo questions are asked over and over and over. And solutions posted at the same mind-numbing rate.
In aggregate, it's one of the world's biggest time-wasters, just on Volvo questions. What is lost through this process of asking the same questions and the same answers? A hundred-million man-hours? A billion? More? It's sad. It's profitable to them, so they continue it.

I love this site too. Been using it for years and every time I need to find something Volvo repair related it's the first place I look. People have come and gone over the years and the good spirit of helping generously and with an open mind to other people's points of view has endured.

I joined two other sites as our C30 is not as popular (sales numbers also) as the P80 and others and info sometimes is hard to come by. It's so true about the cliquish, unwelcoming besides attitudes mentioned so don't bother any more. The same with the VW forum I had joined.abscate wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 06:22

That looks perfect...to me. (But, I had my punctuation training in a small, rural school). They also had a shortage of Oxford commas.
