I think I have just spotted the problem.
While replacing the seals in another V70 I noticed that Volvo are supplying the wrong seals for the pipe in the sump that connects the oil filter to the oil cooler.
On the first engine I could not compare the old seal with the new one because it had crumbled. It is very clear that the seals are wrong in the kit numered 30750783 from Volvo dealer, and will leak.
I am trying to get the correct seals from Volvo now,

We've used the 30750783 kit on 20+ cars over the years without this issue popping up before. There are always extra o-rings/seals/gaskets left over as they supply enough to cover a range of vehicles. There are also the oil cooler to oil pan rings that need replacing separately(30637339), but other than that, aren't there just the two pick-up rings in the bottom of the block? One smaller and one larger, then there's a third in the o-ring kit that doesn't get used?
I'm hoping you did find something, but...

Hello,
Thanks for your reply, those "O" rings you describe all fit fine, but in the kit Volvo supply there are four identical tan coloured seals, two for the turbo lines and the other two are supposed to fit the pipe that connects the oil filter housing to the outlet to the oil cooler that is bolted to the back of the sump.
The two original seals are not the same as each other, and the two new ones are not the same as either of the originals.
I understand that Volvo have changed the design of the sump at least four times. On sump part number 1275868 A the seal supplied by Volvo for the lower end (outlet to cooler) is much too small for the recess in the sump. The seal suppled for the other end of the pipe has the correct internal and external diameters but is only about half as long as the original so will not reach the bottom of the recess in the filter housing.
The main dealer where I bought the kit is taking this up with Volvo at the moment, after I showed him the sump, pipe and seals.
Can anyone tell me if the little "doobury" screwed into the top of the oil filter housing (in the sump) is a one way valve?
It looks as though it should be, but I can easily blow thorough it in both directions.

I know it's a pretty old topic, but I have the same issue with my v70 2001 2.4 170hp non turbo. The piston cooling valve screw is leaking.
I wonder how it is possible to remove the piston cooling valve without removing the timing belt and the other stuff? Is it possible?

I’ve got my RN block apart at the moment so I’ll look and locate that bolt later this morning.

Thank you very much. It's a bolt next to the water and oil pump. It's hidden behind a plastic part.

Hmm. On an RN motor post 1999, that plastic won’t come off until the water pump comes out, which means timing belt off.
Looks like info up thread is fake.
I’ll confirm later

I hope it's not a fake information. Maybe it's possible to reach it with something like that https://www.amazon.de/Proxxon-23068-Mic ... th=1&psc=1
