REmoved the old control arm to find the new one I've had for 4 years is the wrong size, can't remember where I bought it .
Had to order another.

Replaced my torque rod mount. The transmission end rubber bushing was completely separated. Also replaced the windshield cowl end trims (L&R). Nice easy repairs today.

Finished work a little early and went by the pick a part to check out a new arrival. 2002 S60. I wasn’t dressed for a junk yard adventure, but I ended up grabbing a headliner in real good condition. It just needed some cleaning which I just did. $10.99. Mine is coming out this weekend.

new control arm fitted, getting the balljoint stud inserted into the end of the arm was a project, I pulled the control arm down with a big ratchet strap ok but ended up having to pivot the whole knuckle by removing top bolt and loosening the bottom to allow the knuckle to swing down and line up with the control arm .

I put it in a car show on Sunday. Found out the starter was bad when I couldn't start it to move and had 3 other cars blocked in. Waiting on a new starter for it now.

Just did my first-ever DIY water pump replacement, even though this is my 7th Volvo.

Bonus: I did it in the dark.

I spent the afternoon flushing the coolant with plain, then distilled water, and then began disassembly. I got hung up removing the crank pulley (still haven't gotten it) but I felt I couldn't just let it sit overnight after removing even the last protective film of coolant, so I slipped the TB off the sprockets, removed/replaced the water pump, and refilled it with Pentofrost NF.

I'll finish the TB job tomorrow, if it doesn't rain.

Context: I just bought this car, and it's on blocks getting a full stage 0 before it goes into service as my wife's daily.

No need to remove the crank pulley, just the lower dust shield, slip the timing belt through the gap sideways.

Adjusted headlight aim with a prybar, it got hit in the front , something got tweaked, I untweaked it.

Found a front tire down to 24 psi again, I'm gonna demount and clean the rim .
Alloy wheels are a pain.

I've read conflicting opinions about this. Some say as you do, others say you need the eyes of a hawk to make out the timing marks with the crank pulley in place, and yet others say that bending the timing belt sideways like that weakens it in a potentially dangerous way. That last possibility concerns me.

It’s possible, and it’s also possible to damage the belt doing this. I pull the pulley. Crack it with an impact before you take the belt off. Zip zip zip. 30mm socket
