Have you ever found yourself with bruised hands because you pulled too long on too short a handle? And then banged on said handle with your palm?

After almost a year of general and much needed maintenance, I finally did something cosmetic. I picked up a set of toasty Echo rims at a pick a part a few weeks ago and refinished them. I got my Michelin’s mounted on them last night. I’m going to scuff them after they cure and hit them with a couple more coats of clear. Overall, I’m pleased with the way they turned out. Hind sight 20/20 though, I probably should have hit them with a gloss black and laid the silver over it to give them a deeper silver color.

Both front control arms.

What a PITA that is on a 2006 S60... Done without removing the knuckle. Used a jack to lift the knuckle so as to not overstretch the new control arm bushing when getting that ball joint stud through the hole.

Still, a royal PITA. Next time I'll do it by taking out the knuckle, even if the tie rod end ball-joint bolt does look as rusty as the Titanic...

Had the brake dust shields out for that, so they got a nice spray-down with brake cleaner, and then installing new rotors was as easy as a new fuse after all that. Still waiting for rebuilt calipers to complete the reassembly.

I was able to reseat the balljoint stud in the control arm by removing the large upper knuckle to strut clamp bolt, then loosen the lower bolt so the knuckle can pivot. Ratchet strap pulled the control arm down as far as possible.

That’s clever. You can even c clamp it closed again when done.

I like it. That way, the axle bolt doesn't have to come out.

Next up, I get to R/R all four brake hoses. I don't suppose there's any bookies around here that wanna take bets on whether that goes smoothly?
