I'm a little confused by this one.
XC ? R ? Shouldn't it have to pick one ?
Big ask for a P80 that "Needs ... valve work."

Engine code in VIN does not decode to the R engine, Code 56 = B5244T. The R engine is code 62 = B5234T8.

That's definitely an XC. Price is pretty crazy for "needing valve work". Lots of goodies though, and it looks to be in pretty good shape.

The used car market is insane right now. Some cars are selling for like 3x what they should.

Exactly. I was pointing out the confusion in the poor things' badging. I guess when the lister took all the stuff off the R, he just left the trim in place.

Not sure it is a 97 but hard to confirm from pictures. Very low spec NA car with no heated seats and cloth interior. Again, good luck with the sale but it will be a hard sale, although stick shift might be of interest.

As for the V70R? Like you say guys it is not an 'R' but an XC with an 'R' muffler. No 'R' seats, door cards. Not sure if 'R' came with a wood dash kit. In 00 it is machine turned type aluminum center console.

Good job Rick is on the case.

The positives is it does not have 'R' rear rotors and pads.

Price? Hm.....

To paraphrase Neil's post: the only thing R on the car is the little plastic badge on the tailgate and the muffler (apparently).

Looks to be the stock 2000 R exhaust on that car. XC only had a single tip on the right.
