More precisely, when I'm closing the windows, they go all the way closed and immediately bounce back and open themselves all the way. This happens occasionally - no way of predicting when it will happen. It happens more frequently with the driver's door window, less frequently with the passenger's door window. It happens when I use the "turnpike tollbooth" method - i.e., give the window switch a short pull to close the window and it's supposed to close all the way.
I can get the windows closed if I hold the switch up until the window closes. It will seem like the window is trying to "rebound" and open itself, then it changes its mind and stays closed.
What's my problem and how bad of a fix is it?

When I bought my '07 XC70 recently it had this problem on the driver's side door. I tried a bunch of different fixes from YouTube (including hold for 10 seconds at bottom, hold for 10 seconds at top and pull fuse right before top, then some ignition stuff, then reinsert fuse, roll up, I forget the whole process) BUT none of the "quick" fixes I was able to find fixed the issue.
In the end, I had to fire up VIDA and explored until I found the window module calibration in the door module. Once I opened that up, click, click, got an OK, and then after that it worked without issue.
Point being: it's possible that your modules need to be told once again just where the top position is after the car has aged a little. The question is how to tell them.
Hopefully either you're able to get one of the YouTube fixes to work (I wasn't) or you have a VIDA setup on hand, or know someone that does.

Fought with my passenger for a while doing a similar thing. Ended up being a bad relay on the PDM (only showed up on carsoft/vida)

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

The YouTube solution worked on the first try!
Love the Russian-accented voice synth.
