Hy Buddies,
I have a question. Last summer i've replaced my timing belt. But i didn't have enough money for the crankshaft pulley.
I've bought a new one today.
Here's my question. To replace this crankshaft pulley, have i to block the 2 belts gears as i didi when i replaced my belts last time ? Have i to do my timing belt again ?
Thanks for sharing your experience.

There is no need to replace crankshaft pulley.
Why you would want to replace it?

It has 151 000 kms and it's an OEM part, so, installed in february 1995. It's seems to be a litlle bit old for a OEM part...All parts ofmy timing are new, excepted this one.
A picture to be sure we're talking about the right part.

Hi Manov, like Misha says, why do you think you have to replace it? Some cars have rubber insulators on the crank pulley that can break down with age. They are to reduce vibration (damping).
So unless you have a rubber insulator on your pulley (I can't recall just now if these cars do) there should be no real reason to replace it unless it is showing huge amounts of cracks.
Now if the crankshaft oil seal is leaking or the seal face is bad on the crank pulley where the seal is, leave it alone. If the seal is leaking and you have to remove it if it makes you sleep better then change it out. But if all is good, don't waste time and money.
Neil.

Salut Neil,
I do thank you for your advice and i understand your meaning. I'm in a progression with my car, i try to clear each point one after the other. I have a double goal acting that way. I want to learn how to repair the car, and do what needs to be done to make it safe as it was just come out of the factory. I will be retire in few years, and want to have a god condition car to travel around Europe.
In a future to come, i will go on holidays with woman and kids, the first ones since 2014. So i don't wanna run any risk...
I have learn one thin with your post, i have forgotten to order the seal of the oil pump, if i have understood your idea. Can you give me the reference of it, i don't find it on my differents volvo boards...
Anyway, "Merci beaucoup" to follow this post, you and all others buddies.

It never fails and there is nothing that can fail on it unless it is bent or hit by something...in fact your old one is good enough just like brand new one(if it is OE Volvo).
There is absolutely no need to touch it at all.
No gains and no losses too.

You don’t need to remove or block the time belt , Manov. I would leave the SERP belt on and use an impact to remove the three M6 bolts, then remove the SERP belt and the harmonic balancer
Oops. Made mistake. You need to remove the 30mm crank nut , too.
