Volvo S60 PCV Low Turbo Boost?!

Post by Vageloudakis »

Hello fellas.

I proud volvo s60 2007 2.0t owner for last 3 months.

My set up is
Remap ECU - air intake- 3" downpipe catless.

My car have 200k kms seems working as well without weird sounds, smoke or oil - air hose leak...BUT..
After all my tunes im still getting 8 psi (tested with good boost gauge and Torque via OBD)

My crankcase (PCV) never changed and also some times when i drove more than 20 mins i smell somthing like gasoline or oil..I did the glove test and glove mot sucked in and when i pull out the dipstick im seeing smoke. So PCV probably fail.

No oil leaks anywhere.

TCV valve changed to 911 by pieburg and working as well (tested unhook the WG line etc)

I have no CEls active.

Sometimes my car feels kick good abd some times like i lost 30% of power.

Throttle body seems working as well on torque like all other stuff.

So the PCV can effect my boost and how much?

Car tested on 30 Celsius.

If is someone know somthing or have any idea that i missing please help.

When/if you losing power is a damn bad dream that never ends.

Thanks team.

Edit: Tried adjusting wastegate rod by 2 turns but i saw only 1 psi more.

8psi pressure under boost or vacuum. ?
I get 15-20 vacuum and 5 psi boost when the turbo kicks in.

Either way, you're due for a PCV service before the cam seals blow out, you might be leaking some oil already.
You can leave the dipstick loose to relieve pressure temporarily.
Don't want to lose the rear main seal.

Thanks for your reply brother.

I have 8 psi under boost. Ibe seen more some times.
5 psi sounds too low... I think stock boost is 7-8 psi on 2.0t engines.

Il replacey PVC late of August.

You said in your initial post the PCV was never serviced? They say it's due every 100K, so if there's no history that it was serviced, it's definitely time. I would suspect clogged turbo hosing, or excess sludge in the oil trap, would affect your boost power. In extreme situations, the entire lower engine port will be clogged with carbon and sludge, meaning back pressure will push oil through your engine seals. However if you catch it in time, your seals will remain intact and in the mean time you'll simply be losing oil.

Considering that you're smelling oil, that is almost definitely what is happening right now.

If you want to read up more on it, here's my recent PCV post. Lots of great insight in there courtesy of the fine folks here.

Also if you're extra unlucky like me, you'll have to drop your oil pan to clean out the sludge and unclog the pan's breather chimney.

I think the previous owner never change it bcz book service not wrote it and and when asked him about service history he didn't tell anything about this.
Also book servive nowhere wrote about sparks changed he said changed but who knows..... I hope he was not so stupid...il check the sparks too.

Do you know much boost pressure 2.0t working?
I cant find it anywhere.

Thank you 😊

Today im keeping 12 psi. Thats happening when im reseting ECU by unhook battery.

Idk what is wrong with.my car.... Ecu reads too much pressure and going to something safe mode or standard psi?

you need to restore the ECU to factory settings, do the PCV.

Stay safe from the wild fires.

When you say restore ECU? How to do that?
I removed the battery pole if that your mean.
Also no CELs on OBD (only somthing about breaks).
