Hi Guys,
Can anyone tell me what the light, aluminium tubing that attaches to a 940 engine is called? I think it has something to do with cold starting and is about 50 mm diametre and roughly a metre in length.

Pre-Heat Hose or Thermoduct. Volvo part number 9438274. It is to promote faster carburetor and engine warm-ups.

Owners of 240 series cars in areas of mild winters have often removed this tube and the thermostat device in the air filter box. When the thermostat in the filter box fails the engine gets hot air off the exhaust manifold at all times.

You can buy this at a generic motor factor ( do you say that down under?) but the Volvo one is reasonably priced here at least.

Down under? .. How does one determine which way is up in the Universe?
One would think the heavy side would rotate to the bottom and there is more land mass in the northern hemisphere.
