climate control sensor

Post by tommylg »

I have the dreaded blinking ECC lights.
I changed out the ECC.
I have cold air on the ds and warm air on the ps.
The climate control sensor motor is not running.
I have face, floor, windscreen fan air.
So, what does the climate control sensor actually control and is this my problem?
Additionally, where are the damn clips to remove this item?
Thanks and have a great week,
Tommy

Replacing of ECC did not affected? If so, it's an issue of flaps servo motors.
If my English is bad, please correct me

Our friend bmdubya did a write up on the removal of the cabin temp sensor. I also added something to a question on this at one point as well.

The cabin temp sensor is a bit of a swine to get to and remove until you have done this a couple of times. I would wear long sleeves as the cut out for the ECC unit is sharp and can leave a nice scrape or cut on your arm.

There are 2 tabs that need to be depressed into the sensor body to release it. I find the one closest to the access hole for the ECC is the easiest to release first and the other one is directly opposite to it and is a bit of a struggle to get too.

Once released you have to pull it straight backwards toward the bulkhead slightly to get it out. Be careful, there is a rubber insert that sits on the end of the unit. It usually gets stuck to the dash when the sensor is removed or likes to drop down behind the dash into the rear of the center console!

Sorry the pics are slightly out of focus, but if you look you can see one of the 2 tabs/ears on the side of the unit. The 2nd one is one the opposite side. You should be able to figure where the tab in the picture is relative to the wiring connector.

Hope that helps on that part.

The climate sensor only tests the cabin temp and ajusts accordingly. 850's had 2 sensors one each side above the grap handles above the doors.

If the flaps are not changing then there is more likely one or the servo motors is not working or a flap is jammed.

A little revisit, here.
The tabs you depress - "Over Under Sideways Down" - The Yardbirds - what way do you depress them.
I think I have one and the sensor twists just a touch.
Thanks and Happy Sunday,
Tommy
