89 245 performance camspaft upgrade

I've had my 245 going on 2 years, done most all the thing that cause problems. Got about 16 mpg till I fixed my overdrive situation and not get about 18. However, I lack power, yea, I know it isn't a performance engine but it's a bit tough merging onto the highway stomped and in second gear.

An friend suggested a different camshaft might be available. I've got ~200k miles on it and thought that the engine might benifit from a new cam and bearings.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this scheme?
