But someone local on craigslist finally posted something too tempting for me to turn down.
It's a red 1993 245 5 speed in near mint condition.
I just got home from test driving it and I must say, it's quite lovely. It's the first 240 I have seen that:
-has no cracks in the dash
-has no yellowing of the headlamp lenses
-has both front door plastic storage pockets completely intact
And it's all original. It lived in his garage or a parking garage when at work. I feel very lucky to have found it. Of course, I did have to pay dearly for it, but to me it's worth it. This is about the 7th 240 I'll have owned now.
This is the only photo I have from the seller at the moment.

I'm sure I'll be going through it and sharing my experiences. He's the only owner, and has taken care of it, but I don't see him as having done extensive preventative maintenance. Now that I finally have the perfect platform to work from, I will probably put some money into it and create the wagon I dreamt about in the 80s and 90s.
Having owned my 965 and now my 855, I had forgotten about the 240s, but I caught this one and knew I had to jump on it.
