Abandoned the vehicle from Hades at the new Volvo dealer on a 'you can keep it as long as you like and I may come back for it!' basis. My buddy I sold my 2000 V70 NA collected me from the new dealership as they didn't have a loaner (especially ok as the timeline is unknown for the return). That V70 is the car I shouldn't have ever sold. He loves the car and it looking after it well. It now has over 200,000 miles in it and it still runs beautifully. It has one of the smoothest and quietest white blocks I have ever heard. He told me that he just changed the oil after 10,000km and measured what he removed compared to what he added previously. It had used only about 600ml of synthetic oil. That is amazing as about 3800km was a run to Eastern Canada and back loaded with over 200kg over loaded and into a strong headwind. It can still manage 32mpg on a run as well.

Saw the 'R' was already in the new workshop at the dealer. Got home and found the car from Hades has left a small present on the garage floor. Perhaps to remind me to go back for it?

Did I ever say I hate that car!!

Got an e-mail from Rica in Holland. It is their software the R' runs on. Looks like they have a newer version with 345 bhp for the 2000 'R' motor. Strange as they only came with an auto trans rated for 320 bhp?

345 hp sounds a little optimistic for a totally stock 2000 R.

Took ChuckW's advice on the sunroof trim. I got this rubber trim from Amazon and used light gray DupliColor fabric and vinyl coating to paint it. After two coats, it seems to be adhering well and able to flex with the rubber. Trimmed to fit and installed it earlier.
It matches better in person than in the pics!

It was in the V70NA that got 32 mpg US (40 mpg Canadian). My 'R' on a good day struggles to get 30 mpg CDN (about 24 mpg US).

Finished installing all new rear brakes including rebuilt Centric calipers on the 850. I had to fabricate a new line from the hub to the caliper because the old fittings were frozen solid to the tubing. Weeks of spraying penetrating oil on the fittings did nothing.

I also successfully installed a new Bosch front O2 sensor.

On the test drive a serious rattle emerged from the rear. Suspecting busted shock mounts.

Well that sucks Dirk. Hopefully a relatively simple fix.

I planned to fix up my 2000 V70 NA and sell it once I found a nice V70 R. But your posts are increasingly discouraging that idea. Are the P2 V70 R from 2006-2007 any better than the P80? Because darn I want a P2 with a stick.

But by the time I'm done reviving my car, I'll probably never want to sell it.
