To waste limited resources on excess power is irresponsible. Excess power gets people killed. Just look at the number of people that crashed a Challenger SRT Hellcat just a few hours after purchase.
The way to increase safety and protect the environment is to limit the power to weight ratio. Volvo has figured that out and is applying it. I am happy Volvo is looking out for people and not putting death machines on the road.

Everybody's Friend Robert makes it a point to harvest every manual trans he sees in the junkyard. The pedals and the shifter stuff from the 850s is needed to make the later trans work in our earlier P80s.
