Were 850s made in Europe until 2004?

Spending some time in Portugal and saw this beauty... Check out this sweet Diesel Turbo!

But if I'm not mistaken, that 04 in the license plate indicates the year of manufacture. Did Europeans really get these until 04? And anyone know why we didn't get them "stateside"?

Nevermind... I had my numbers flipped around. There's a 97 there!!

I think I've had a little too much port wine... :)

Must be the port wine. We had the s/v 70ies ever since late 97 (98 model year), although i believe a first gen v70 (called classic) was still available for a few years while the p2 cars had already hit the markets.

would kill for a diesel 850 wagon. there hasnt been a decent diesel wagon in the states since the MB 300TD
