Been hearing a slight brake grinding in the rear but was assured by my indy it was just rust. took a look today and the drivers rear looks scraped, gouges are not deep however the smooth surface finish is gone. Gonna pull the wheel off tonight and take a look.

On a brighter note, i picked up a class 2 trailer hitch for 40 canucks. Need to take a sledge hammer to the old retaining pin but it should clean up nicely.

Used car prices up here make me thankful i've only spent a lifetime 3500 on this wagon for the 61 kkm put on it.

Abscate, I will go for #6 - No fluid in the washer tank and stuck level float?

Got a call from the new dealership today to let me know the $2800 + tax fix for the leaking turbo was not needed. I am going to go with the same issue of the turbo lines leaking after car has mostly sat for the last 2 years. It will stay that way until I get a hoist and can get under the car. As it won't get used much over the winter that is no big issue.

Now just have to go get the car back and then make a start on the dash issue. Again, if we can avoid using it at night for another month then it can get looked at over the winter when I pull the dash for mount repairs as I'll be taking the DIM off anyway.

I tried to get an OEM one but I cant guarantee anything. I'd recommend you to anchor anything you value before I start working on it tomorrow

(was gonna do it today but when I got back home I realized working on a hot turbo might not be the best idea  940 will be on commuting duty tomorrow !)

Points given.

1 was a red herring. There is no washer fluid light on the VW, and I had just run the tank dry. Idiot.

Ouch on the brakes. You did well to catch that before having a mishap! Caliper might be ok. Before running out for a caliper (unless you are buying used) see if the pads are stuck on the pins, or the pins are rusted or bent. Also check the condition of the caliper bracket. I have found them sometimes so worn they are indented which prevents the pads sliding.

Yay, I got a prize! Free used oil for a year from abscate.

No wonder you weren't getting any windshield washer fluid if you had red herrings in the fluid tank! Why did they turn red?

Found some Otrera wheels on a C70 at the junkyard today. Going to order some tires and throw these on the R. I love the look! Can't wait to put them on the car.
I also scored a Snabb RIP kit... just need to get the OTE pipe so I can throw it on the car. Still want to get an exhaust system made before I get another tune, but at that point the car should be good. For a few minutes, before I decide I need to do more  .
