Up until this point I have been only lurking in this forum, but I finally bought my first 240. So here is a little introduction if you will.
The car is a 92' 240GL which spent most of it's life in California before it moved to Florida for a few years and then to MA to a collectors home. That collector who presumably never drove it in the winter then sold it to my PO. It has around 190k on it but you wouldn't know.
As you would expect, the thing is pretty much rust free, which was a major point for me in buying it. Paint is a little tired but should polish up very nicely.
There are a couple of things that need attention:
The CEL is on. PO told me it's related to the EGR, we shall see.
Instrument cluster lighting is totally dead, along with all the switches (very suspicious)
Odo and temp gauge are working only when they feel like.
Looks like the tranny hasn't been serviced in a while
It drives very nice and feel very solid, no rattles of any kind.
I could just open and close the driver door all day long, that clunk is just so satisfying
First thing I did was replace the headlights which were very foggy. When I picked it up with abscate (thanks again my friend) I had to drive it home in the dark, in the rain and with wipers that were shot. I decided to use the high beams at all times to keep me safe and nobody flashed me
