2005 V70 FWD NA, Cranks but won't start.

Post by alecbh »

I'm pulling my hair out here, but I'll try to keep this concise and informative. My car stranded me last Friday, started and immediately died. Tried to restart, and it only cranked. I checked the fuel rail, and there was only a dribble of fuel coming from the schrader valve. Towed car home, found a blown fuel pump fuse, #21 under the hood. Connected to VIDA and had CEM-3F90, along with older codes (20k miles ago) CEM-4A31 and CEM-4A35, with some other even older codes. I attempted to diagnose the fuel system, but couldn't find any obvious problems.

I tried starting it again today while jumpstarting it, and it appeared to be making good fuel pressure, but refused to catch:

On a whim, I used VIDA to manually activate each injector for just a second, and tried again:

This time it caught for just a moment, and then died. I'm beyond frustrated and at a loss on what to do next. I'd appreciate any help y'all could provide.

The crank position sensor provides the signal for the injectors.can vida test the crank sensor? I don't know.
Or put a test noid light or meter on the injector plug whilst cranking.

You’ve got fatal errors on the fuel pump relay, integral to CEM and pump control module , also called the Pem

Try a junkyard PEM first or open up your Pem and look for corrosion.

You can monitor the input to the Pem to see if the fuel pump relay is delivering voltage there, too
