Thanks for letting us know.
I banned him from MVS Forums for durations of days all the way up to months -- over the years -- because of his saltiness. He had no filter.
He was a good guy, and after many years of his input here at MVS, we became "email friends", despite our, uh, disagreement on forum norms and behavior.
He became a grandfather about a year ago, and the last time I emailed with him, he was very excited about it. He was also in poor health and had difficulty walking.
Several members here bought Volvos from him, and always said great things about the cars they bought.
RIP Jim Levitt

I was one of the ones who bought a car from him. It was the white 98' V70XC aka "the diva" in my house.
Dealing with him regarding the purchase was very pleasant, a bit of a contrast to his usual bluntness. I actually went to his house twice. He also helped me out a lot with some hard to find parts. He certainly had a wealth of Volvo knowledge.
RIP Jim

His house was supposedly something of a architectural gem. It was in a magazine decades ago IIRC.

Since his father was the creator of 'Levittown', Jim was interviewed by the New York Times following the very odd, and factually incorrect, statements made by the previous president at the now infamous Boy Scouts rally some years ago. While his response may have been edited by the Times, it was thoughtful and quite to the point.
I've poked around a bit online looking for an obit with no luck. I did find his address in Winter Park, but don't know where he was when he passed.

Whoa, I didn't know that about Levittown. Interesting stuff.
I also can't find his obit.

I bought my P2 from him, went to his house.
His garage was like a racing history lesson, full of trophies and paraphernalia.
Before it came recognized as a civil rights issue, his father was forward thinking on opening Levittown to all, regardless of race, recognizing contributions of all races to the war effort. I think it still got redlined but the door was cracked.
RIP , Jim.
