Passing of Colin Powell

Post by Sveedy »

He was one of my heroes, and apparently a Volvo enthusiast. According to an interview I just saw with an admiral who knew Colin well, he liked to work on old Volvo's, taking out the engines and generally repairing the cars. Guess he also had a Vet.

Great man and soldier. Probably would have made a great President, but was too smart for that.

R.I.P General Powell

Yes, a noted Amazon enthusiast.

He maybe should have been President. That WMD speech probably doomed him - his background as a loyal soldier came back to bite him.

He was a really good guy.

Colin Powell stated that was a blot on his record. But why did one blot doom him but a multitude of blots not doom certain others standing? 🤷‍♂️

Because there is a difference between a statesman and a cult leader. The later can do no wrong.

That is "true" to those trying to get something without earning it but, it is not factual. If you can keep "get something without earning it" in your mind a lot of things will become crystal clear. You will be able to see through the smoke screens ... unless you do not want to see.

Plutocracy and Kakistocracy hurts us all. Diminishes our ability to adapt and survive.

What I stated is factually true and correct. Period. The fact that some can't or won't use their " minds" is another problem for another thread.
I started this one as a tribute to a great man and Volvo lover.

My bad. I thought you where being sarcastic. I did not realize you actually believed cult leaders can do no wrong.

If you think that, then my bad. Of course I was being sarcastic. Somehow I think we talked over each other.
Cult leaders obviously can do no wrong only in the eyes of their followers.

Found this:

Brutus and Cassius are best friends. Brutus has a fear that ambition will make him King of Rome, which Rome had not had. Aristotle’s definition of a tragic hero is a character of high esteem that has a flaw in logic, which leads to their downfall. While in the process the character is enlightened of their mistakes and after the play is often viewed with pity. The protagonist, Brutus, is the tragic hero because he is easily persuaded, has flawed logic, and falls from high standing.
