Order of operations

Post by Turbolena »

Hi Everyone,
I am in the process of doing the PCV on my 2006 V70R Automatic , its going well. However I look back and the radiator has buildup along one edge, so that's now next. There are lots of instructions, which obviously get the radiator and intercooler in and out via removing the front and top, and dropping it out the bottom. My question: With the intake manifold off for the pcv service..is it conceivable and does it save anytime or angst, that I remove the intercooler and radiator back towards the motor, and skip the taking the top off or bumper ? Or does that save me nothing and I should finish the PCV up and then go do the rad job?

Appreciate the experienced insights

I think the alternator and AC compressor would still be in the way to prevent pulling the radiator backwards. I have done both jobs, but at different times.

on mine the A/C pipes were the biggest pain. Removing the top is recommended helps you see whats your doing. I used a trolley jack to support and lower, can be lowered by hand but they get heavy real quick. Check the rad ports for cracking.
