Am I missing a hose?

Post by JsV70 »

Dropped my tank to change fuel pump.

Should the green fitting on the top rear of the tank have a hose attached to something else?

That looks like an XC tank but very different than the one I wrestled with recently. I’ll try find links to pictures

Good catch abscate. That is an AWD saddle tank. That area of the tank should have part of the expansion system on it. I will try to find my pictures of that section from the rebuild of the R rear sub-frame.

Is this a replacement tank as it has not of the pipes attached to is? Some of those pipes are NLA so I hope you have them to transfer over. If you don't have an AWD then this will not work on an FWD car. There is also changes between 98-99-00 years.

^What Neil said. There were differences over each model year for the AWD tank, so you'll have to make sure you have the right one.
For what it's worth, here's a pic of the tank from my '00. It's hard to see much of anything, but it could help.

That green connector is buried somewhere under all the expansion tanks. Here is the area from my 2000 V70R AWD:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. I didnt replace my actual tank, but I cleaned out all my lines and switched out the fuel pump and ejector (pump).

When disassembling hoses, I noticed that the green fitting didnt have a hose attached to it.

So I am trying to figure out if is some type of pressure release-that should remain open, or if there needs to be a hose attached to it.

Couple of questions:

Was the car running ok before removing the tank?

Were there any codes showing? It would throw an engine check light if there was an issue.

As I never removed all the stuff of the tank, I didn't notice that connector on the top of the tank. If there was nothing attached to it the chances are it is not used. Volvo changed the system in the cars over the years so may have kept the same tank but left that in place. Is the hole in the connector solid?
