When I first got my V90 I returned to the dealer about an hour after picking it up complaining that the heads up display wasn't working. I quickly discovered it was my polarizing sunglasses! I ended up buying new sunglasses for that car only !

Wow, looks like I was lied to about my semi-expensive sunglasses being polarized. What a way to find out.

A couple days ago (am I still allowed to post this here? :P ), I got to do something fun to my car for the first time all year! Swapped my hatch's struts in barely an hour, would have been even quicker if I was more confident in removing the semi-brittle trim. Talk about a plug-and-play job, almost as easy as doing your TCV. No more aluminum ski pole keeping my skull from being thwomped. I don't wish pain on anyone, but I like to think I'm not the only one who's knocked their prop out and wacked their dome with the tailgate while installing groceries.

...or hurriedly jumping their battery on a cold morning while "right on time" for work, while holding the gate up with one arm because you think it'll save you time but actually you're slowing yourself down because you didn't bother taking the time to secure your prop, or better yet, slowly crushing your spine because you decide to support the gate with your noggin'.

woooo boy, I sure am glad that's over. Highly recommend A+++ value received from job.

My only regret was doing this between other maintenance to "take a breather", and not realizing I had dense grease on my, erm, tailgate. Sayonara to that immaculate carpet, ah well.

“Thwomped” is a great word and should be added to the dictionary.

Hehe my favorite newly made-up word is "mechanicry".

Decipher it either way you desire, because either annunciation provides a whole different meaning!

You got it! Also used as, "just finished up the mechanicry for the day".

Another E30? Super cool! Must be a 5-speed if you've hung onto it :) those M20s are tanks. Everyone including their mother wants to do an engine swap for more HP, but man you can't beat that stock reliability. I put mine to the side after getting my XC, but all the maintenance I've had to do this year has inspired me to get ol' faithful back on the road. I learned to drive in a 325ix so it's super nostalgic to me.

Hope it's not taboo I've injected another car into the forum

Hahahah that's good, haven't heard that one yet

I hear the trick with the new ones is to lease it, drive it, and drop it. Rumor is that if you turn your own wrench, there are roadblocks and specialty tools galore.

New rear discs and pads fitted at the weekend, the old pads were OK but the discs crusty. It has made a massive difference to braking power, I dont think the old setup was doing much to be honest!

Also replaced both rear shocks and top mounts. One shock was tired as it no longer extended again once compressed. Very nice improvement in ride and handling.

Also fitted a new MAF which has improved throttle response and driveability, plus the gear changes seem smoother.

Overall some very satisfying DIY jobs done. All on my 2002 V70 2.4t FWD
