HI all-
2001 v70 XC. 210,000 miles
I just did a PCV job and replaced rear cam seals and cleaned the throttle body.
Car will start but dies right away. I can keep it running if I feather the gas pedal, but runs terribly. It feels like it felt once when the charge pipe popped off the throttle body, but I can’t find any loose hose or pipe. The airbox-to-turbo pipe is a little cracked where it connects to turbo, but since it is pre-turbo, I discounted that as a cause. Can this cause this symptom?
I swapped the MAF with another one that I THINK is good, but no improvement.
I was thinking that maybe the ETM did not like that I messed with it, so I ordered the non-contact rebuild kit. BUT if the ETM went bad, I would have thought that I would not be able to feather the gas to keep it running? Am I right about that?
I checked all fuses and made sure all the injectors seated properly in fuel rail.
No codes.
So I guess here are the possibilities:
bad ETM
leak in intake pipe
jumped a timing belt tooth (very unlikely, especially with no codes)
bad MAF (also not likely)
Any other suggestions?

Any leak post MAF will destroy the closed loop fine tuned running.

hmm. that makes sense. I guess I will take that one on ASAP. That pipe is a minor PIA with the vacuum connections back by the turbo, and in my case, quite filthy due to the oil leak that prompted the seal fix in the first place.
By the way, there was NO seal on the rear intake cam. PO must have not replaced it, possibly to avoid doing a PCV job I suspect.

I had almost the exact same thing and it was the same pipe (snorkle, airbox to turbo hose, $$$$) combined with a huge tear in the hose that goes from the purge valve to the front of the intake manifold, combined with another break in the intercooler to TB hose. $$$$$$$

Just to close the loop on this one: the air leak was at the back of the charge tube. I only found it when I got desperate and started disconnecting and re-connecting everything. It looked OK, but once I pulled the tube off the turbo sleeve I could see that the clamp was on crooked. Before that I pulled the ETM and checked it using the write-up on the volvospeed site.
