Sorry for that downtime

Just when you think you've seen everything that can happen to a medium-trafficked site as a server admin, you learn you were wrong.

Tonight, the host changed this virtual machine's IP address.

One second requests were resolving to this domain, the next second they weren't.

Took 2 hours of head scratching to stumble onto a very basic but fundamental aspect of hosting: is the IP correct?
