My son has an S40- 2001. Had a front end collision. Nice body work done, but the headlamps are not original = Depo (?). When I drove the car (I really never drove it), the lamps appear dim and weird pattern. The right light throws out very far, while the driver's lamp (both low beam) casts light just in front of the vehicle (maybe 15' or so).
Should both lamps be throwing light (low beams) out far? Same pattern?
I don't know how to adjust them. I found a knob on the rear of the housing that was on a threaded plastic rod...that was turned all the way in...no more threads left.
I will call the bodyshop tomorrow, but I know that they will give me the runaround. Had they informed me that they were using aftermarket, I would have insisted on Volvo lamps...(Shouldn't I have?).

Certainly you should complain until they get it right...pattern and projection should be the same...after market or not. I would also insist on Volvo parts. Didn't your insurance pay for this anyway? Might want to check...some insurance says "after market parts when available."
