The pipe feeds the suction side of the water pump. Chamfering the edge will be fine flow-wise

That comes down to the issue of twisting/cutting the o-ring. Position-wise the pipe will be fine at that point.

Got the pipe out and tapered the end as best I could. O-ring was in place, but missing apx 8mm chunk, which I now have circulating around in my engine. :roll: :x

Thinking about this ( I've got to stop that ) more, I think that I will just bite the bullet and take out the water pump.
It would seem that the Volvo gods are pointing that way, now with a piece of floating o-ring in the picture.

I only put about 1 gal. of water in to check for leaks before firing the engine up. Only ran it for 10 sec. before shutting down to see if there were any, which there was. If I pull the pump, I can check to see if MAYBE that piece of o-ring is in there, as well as make sure that I get the new one on right. And I could always back flow the engine with a hose to try and flush that piece out if it's not.

I would not stress over a piece of o-ring being in there, if you don't happen to find it.

It’s going to end up in the top,of the radiator for the rest of that radiator’s life. No worries. Now, if it were a Saturn,loss of rings would be a concern.

I’ll contemplate that over a Mars Bar.

I think that's your best bet. Bite the bullet, pull the pump and do it once.

Agreed, it's probably fine. It's small enough that it shouldn't damage anything or affect flow significantly.

Last question ( for today ),
If I have intake & exhaust cams locked, do I still need to bring #1 up to TDC before I pull the tensioner ? Can't see why I would but .....

If the cams are locked, the crank should already be at the alignment mark (which isn’t TDC, easy mistake that can cause some issues). Theoretically if you lock the cams and don’t touch the crank, you’d be fine, but at that point it’s very easy to set everything to their alignment marks. Just some unnecessary guessing that could potentially cause some problems.
