I realize I’ve never used winter blades even in Buffalo and deep cold Ithaca.
Starting car, clearing off snow, and then clearing windshield is the key. Never wipe a heavy snow laden windshield with your wipers. Bad for everything ,,, blades, gears, arms, and wiper motor.
Ok, Snow folks, what's your prefered winter wiper blade?

You've never gotten salt spray from someone in front of you, or it's snowing hard enough to accumulate while driving?abscate wrote: ↑05 Feb 2022, 02:58 I realize I’ve never used winter blades even in Buffalo and deep cold Ithaca.

If it starts building up, stop and clear it off. That’s also Nature telling you you to get off the roads, too. If you are having trouble seeing, everyone else is too, and that doesn’t end well.

I bought Trico's Ultra blades. They're US made, unlike most. Since they're a beam style, they should work in the winter. Unfortunately, they must be lower profile than what was there, since the driver's side doesn't completely clear the window. The last few inches of the arc, the center of the blade lifts off the glass and there is no snow/ice as it was 40F today.
I also noticed that since they're a bit bulkier than the conventional blades that were there, that the passenger side is a little bit up on the windshield when off/parked, but only sometimes. Does the wiper system use some sort of control board? On my Chevy truck the wipers have a control board that often has bad solder joints, much like the Volvo abs module, and will act up.

There's a timer control, but the motor and linkage are old school.
Home position is returned to when a position switch in the motor
opens after switched operating power is removed from the motor.
If you're seeing inconsistency in home positions between the two
arms, I'd start with the arm connection at the wiper shaft. May be loose.

Thank you, I'll look at that. Maybe this weekend.BEJinFbk wrote: ↑10 Feb 2022, 00:27 There's a timer control, but the motor and linkage are old school.
