I had a '70 and a '71 124 Spyder. I really liked them. They had the 1608 aluminum twincam, a good little motor. As a poor college kid, however, I bought pretty ratty examples, which I paid for later. One of them had no top and had snow inside - I bought it anyway (??) I rebuilt the head on one with a burned valve, which was my first major project, in a sand driveway.

The 124, of course, was the gateway drug to an Alfa Romeo Spider, but that was the plan from the beginning.

It was an original design from Pininfarina (and built at Pininfarina), at the same time and quite related to the bigger Ferrari 275 GTS (Spider). They have that same trunk design.

The rally version was cool, with these fantastic Cromodora wheels.

Welp....here's the new VW bus. They've toned it down quite a bit from the earlier prototypes, which had a lot more of the 60s form.

Oh, funny...I was just looking at that minutes ago! I love those. And they never die.
Was it painted by me in my garage with Ace spray cans? That video so reminds me of HS, getting a ride home from lacrosse practice with the older brother of a teammate. His had the chrome foot-shaped gas pedal.

I was there only because of this car, which was restored by a guy on the Alfa forum. Like a little brother Maserati 3500.

Bought it that way from a WW II veteran; easy touch-up colo(u)r match, any Rustoleum vendor.
Sadly, old Leo is gone, and so is 16 Mile Brewery.
