I believe they are hydraulic pumps or motors. When I zoomed in or the photo, that is what they sort of look like. I used to see Volvo pumps and motors in industrial hydraulic systems.

Being born in 1982, it's pretty neat to see what Volvo had available back then. Any pics like this of their current offerings, or year by year offerings like the pic you posted?

And I didn't know they made a jet engine. I'll have to do some googling to see if I can find any info about it, and what they used it in.

A wagon with the jet engine in it, still all Volvo, going down the dragstrip would be pretty awesome. If anyone is bored and has the parts/time/money to build one to "fly" down the quarter/half mile in I'd enjoy the build thread and final results. :D
