2016 XC90 ownership update

Post by SuperHerman »

Here are a couple thoughts on ownership of our 2016 XC90 vehicle bought new and currently has about 56k miles.

Since delivery oil changes by dealer at 7.5k miles. Currently burns one quart of oil between changes (last two changes). Both times warning light asked for one quart to be added which was immediately done.

Brakes - at 55k new front pads and rotors and new rear pads.

Tires on second set, maybe 20k left.

Front dash leather, by heads up display, continues to pull away. Started at about 25k and is getting worse. Dealer wants $5,000 to replace.

Third battery. First died due to age, second was defective and replaced within a year under warranty.

Other than that not too many problems. All service still at dealers. Minneapolis dealer the worst, Detroit and Charlotte area dealers were/are great.

The oil consumption is alarming. The failed dashboard is customer abuse. Motor sounds different from new which is also alarming. Interior leather is holding up okay at best. Compared to Lexus or BMW it is pretty bad.

Wife still loves the car. Other than battery failure it has always started.
