Hy Buddies,
I'm interested in welding lately. I have never welded, and I don't know this field. I would like to build the legs of my future workbench for example, as well as a metal screen to separate my kitchen from my living room. Do you have any experience and advice on this subject?
What is the budget to do a serious job ?

Do you want to do electric arc welding or Gas flame welding? Easiest and cheapest to start (at least in the USA) is a small electric welding unit for flux core wire welding. This will work for thin steel welding up to maybe 6 mm thickness.

I think that's better to star with the electric arc welding. On thebuilding i work in, i get lot of cabin doors panel in 5 mm, so, i've got a lot of metal plates to train myself on that ( i will also use one of them to build my top workbench...

Get a junk car and you will have plenty of metal to practice on. When your done you can enter it into a Demolition derby and have a blast.

In the US you can get a good used Lincoln or miller unit hunting around.
