Re: Oil Filter Stuck

Forgot to say that sometimes P.O. used an aftermarket cap.
So, it is good to inspect and find out the mfg of the cap.
There are so many aftermarket caps out there, it is unbelievable.

- So, yes use only Genuine Volvo Cap.

- I understand different mfgs make it (Mann and Mahle and the junks at local auto parts store).
If people go to FCPEuro.com and look, they only sell Mann and Mahle.

- The car comes from factory with mahke filter, so the O-ring size is important. In this case, mahle filter is the winner. No leak.

PS: As an aside, the BMW E39 5-series forum has learned that the best is Mahle, Hengst and Mann.
Purolator oil filter that comes from local auto parts store: guess what? The O-ring is a tad too small (you are talking about
a difference of < 0.1 mm) and that alone is enough to cause oil leak when using Purolator.
Anyway, for the Volvo P2, stick to Volvo Genuine cap and Mahle and people will be fine.
