HU-801 Radio need help.
I have a 2000 S80 with an HU-801 radio. This morning, the car started as usual but there was no power to the radio. I changed all of the radio fuses. However, the radio will still not turn on. There were no clues that there were any problems with the radio at all. Any clues?
I just went thru contact issues on my saab clarion radio head.
it turned on but either i got blasting sound or no sound - depending upon where it turned the stepper volume.
Applied "DeOxit 5" to try clean up the contact in the on/off/volume rheostat. it worked for a couple days but then crapped out again.
Eventually sent it to a shop Souther* electri* in richmo*d va. they cleaned up the contacts and some board solders and it worked fine after getting it back. Even the ability of the head to accept preset stations was happening faster and easier. Wasnt a cheap fix but then the radio head dash opening in saab like my S80 volvo is not a plug compatible with a crutchfield replacement type unit.

@chuckkey and @ziggy… Are you able to power cycle the radio to get it to play again?
@jtmccue.. when your radio comes on can you turn your steering wheel right and left really fast and change the volume?
These might be related to the clock-spring wiring in the steering wheel, the wire interface to your steering wheel controls
