Vacuum line from manifold....where to buy?

Post by Blacklab467 »

Does anyone have a part number or supply source for Volvo vacuum hose? Specifically the size that comes off the manifold, it appears to be about 5/16. Mine are getting crumbly and are going to need replacement before I get around to doing the PCV system. I cannot find a listing for this hose. Thanks.

The P80's use a similar hose. I recently changed one out on a friends 98 V70 and it came as a 2m length I think. How much do you need?

I also replaced some others that were a different diameter and have some of that but can't recall what it was originally bought for.

This is a case where I suggest you call the dealer. Valentine Volvo parts guys (with one exception) are all good and know their stuff. Ask to speak to Oscar (Supervisor), Mark or Mike.

Can you post a picture of what pipes you are looking at as I can't see anything obvious on the Vida parts listing for any pipes coming off the intake. Hard to figure out what you are looking from from the parts drawing.

The emissions sytem in a 98 volvo uses a length of hose part # 944975. Not sure on the diameter as it is not given.

I'll join in on the Canadian discussion. I think he means the nipple from the front middle of the intake manifold to that vacuum tree with the check valves that connects to the purge valve.

I bought about 1 metre of each 3/8, 5/16, 1/4 of fuel line to cover my rear while I was replacing all the hoses there. It's been working great for nearly 2 years now but remember officially it's a big NO NO to use anything other than vacuum hose./

Thats the one I'm talking about that comes off the middle of the manifold. As near as I can tell it's a 6.6 mm id. I probably need about a meter of it. scot850 if you have lots I would buy some from you, otherwise it looks like IPD or FCP sells the Volvo branded stuff.

I documented the sizes of this on the P80 chassis in a thread in rough idle.

The check valves can have different size hoses in each end so it’s not a one size hose proposition. Turbo and NA engines are also quite different turbos have to provide vacuum to the evap system from both intake and snorkel and have to be isolated by check valves, ergo the complexity

Just another vacuum hose observation: You CAN push a smaller hose on a nipple and it will seal, BUT if the hose is stretched on the nipple, the hose live will be shortened and it will eventually split at the end.
