changed pkg light bulb/turn signal light staying on dash

Post by Guest »

ok, I was brave enough to change a burned out amber left (driver) side marker light (1157A) on my 960, but now the left turn signal light is staying "on" in my dashboard...can anyone tell me what happened and how to fix this?

Thanks
Mike

I was making a right hand turn tonight and the pass side, turn signal stayed illuminated. The fuses and bulbs seem fine and the lights will flash when I activate the hazard lights. The left side functions normally. Is it the turn signal stalk?

this is on a 1996 960 sedan.

Most likely it is the bulb you used for replacement. The bulb failure sensor works by measuring the current flow between the left and right sides, so if you replace one bulb on the left and it has a different current draw than the bulb on the right the sensor trips. Different manufacturers have varying current demands. Try replacing the other corresponding bulb and see if that does it.

The other post about the turn signal staying on, it is just a bad bulb, but you will have to replace the other side too, to avoid possible tripping the sensor.
