Oooo! I like 242s and 142s. I like 3 pedals.

My old mechanic Odvar had nearly this exact car, same color, but with a Ford 302 underneath. That car went!

Retail Red, CA car, racer-fan mods, headed for a right stout number. Lots of time left, but in the current market, it could be that folks truly interested have decided to just put their price on these cars, and see what happens.

A sportscar buddy was just over to say hello. (He used to drive a 240 wagon, so he's ok, he checks out!) He's been watching BaT for many years, from when it was just a compilation of quirky and interesting cars found on the street or on the web for sale, and where they were listed. It quickly morphed into a major auction house with every car guy/gal watching.

We were discussing some of the stupid money being spent on either ordinary cars or not the best example of a desirable car. He says he's seen a pattern lately that seemed odd. He's seeing things get bid up early on, so that on a Wednesday it's pretty high. Then there's no activity between Wednesday and Friday when the auction closes. Like maybe people are throwing numbers at it anticipating a huge climb. That early bidding shoots it up, then reality sets in and no one is prepared to go higher than that.

We both wondered if the BaT bubble is starting to slide, and whether prices might collapse, unless they are truly special or rare cars. But is a non-original Alfa Romeo Duetto worth $95,000 all of the sudden? Is a 356 really worth 250, 350, 500,000? Is this big money being laundered? (that may be an extreme take)

I grow weary of Dealer consignments, but at least this guy admits he's a flipper.

That is a long list of repairs that car needs. Shorter list might be what works?

It looks like an abandoned restomod. From my Mid-Atlantic perspective, the under bits look decent, and some of the heavy lifting is done - although the colo(u)r change some would consider a minus. Given the current state of affairs, if it stays near the current bid, it might be worth the money; what does a bare-metal paint job cost these days ?
