wierd oily substance leaking 1998 v70

I have a 1998 v70 AWD and it has been leaking an oily fluid out of the passenger temp control dial and there is also an oily fluid (I think the same) under the drivers floorboard mat. Also my ac off & recirculation on lights have started to flash for a brief while after starting the car. This has been happening intermittently for awhile and the dealership didn't find a fault code on it before, but now it is happening every time I start the car. Does anyone know anything about this? My guess is that the two things are related somehow. I have asked the dealership about the fluid leaking from the dial and they basically shrugged. Any advice?
