P3 XC60 was "bland, without spirit" (c) wife. 6 years of problems, starting with a master brake cylinder went south after 6 months (Volvo.. safety... yeah...).
Until we sign off a check for the replacement behemoth suitable to move our whole family with comfort and confidence, she'll be driving my old 05 XC70, which handles very inspiring
Also, while enjoying a mild April sun in New England, had the radiators armored cage modified to allow more air (was 62%, now like 90%).
Pardon my ugly seams - a newbie was stick welding 14 GA SS304 sheets...
Dings are from 370/390 FPS crossbow bolts
Also welded a couple of angle brackets onto the cage for the offroad CREE led fog lights that will replace weak, dull and always broken OE lights. Prototyped a bread board with LDD-700H (constant current chip) and a relay. The idea is to limit the current by 0.7A for the "civil" mode, so it won't blind the ingress traffic, and make it possible to unleash the hell when driving off the grid. The hell draws around 3 Amps per light. Maybe more, my lab power supply caps at 3A.
I have the original Volvo aux.light kit installed (bracket on the front bumper) with a pair of Black Oacks flood pods, and I hate that the lights protrude far beyond the bumper. These new flood lights are less powerful (1 CREE led vs 4 in B.O.), but they will be completely hidden. Also the bumper removal is PIA with OE kit, while my fog lights mod would not restrict anything.
