WTB: S70 overhead map light in tan

Post by clarkerussell »

Hello all, the On/Off/Door selector switch on the overhead map light of my 1998 S70 just broke off after 24 year...  I need to replace it, and it looks like it's OOS from Volvo now.  The original part number was 9169503 and came out of a 3990 color code car.  That being said, I'm open to pretty much any of them as I might be able to salvage some of the pieces to repair mine.  Thanks in advance!

Clarke

Yes, but ideally it'd be in the "arena" color which is a little less brown. The replacement number from Volvo is 9483146, but it's not showing in any warehouses in the US.

I called my local dealer and they looked up availability in the US. None here, but said they'd call Volvo on Monday to see if it's available internationally. If so, it's a 4-5 week turn around.

Closing the loop here, I ordered from the local Volvo dealer. It's coming from Volvo Classic Parts in Sweden, so it'll take 4-6 weeks, but it'll be new!

The part came in about a month ago and it was a near perfect match. The colors were right, and the only difference is that instead of having screen printed logos for the lights, it's the newer style with embedded logos in the switch. The switch mechanism itself is also much more robust than the original design from 1998.

It’s no small thing that we can still get OE parts 24-25 years after date of build.

Have to give Volvo love for this

Here are pics of the new one (on left) vs the old one (right). FYI, my interior code is 3990 and you can see how my original one is a little more "yellow" vs the "stone" like color of the newer one.. That being said, it's not next to any other pieces that make it really stand out. Overall I'm happy and it's solved all the pulsing/flickering light issues that I've been having over the years.

Are the switch position/functions moved as labelled or are they preserved?
