Do you have a manual transmission or an automatic? Do you have any other symptoms such as an erratic or non functioning speedometer? Is your ABS warning light on?

An actual failure of the sensor would result in the loss of the speedometer and it causes very erratic transmission behavior in an automatic.

Hi Lee

Thanks for taking time out to reply to me.

Its a 5 speed automatic transmission model and it shifts up and down quite smooth considering its done 264k miles.

Yes the ABS light is constantly on but I dont get the tell tale signs of a failed ABS modual the speedometer is fine and does not cut out or behave erratic in any way.

One other code that has come up a couple of times in the past is p0505 -air idle control valve system fault.

thanks
