I am new to this forum. I joined because I am frustrated.
Problem: My 2001 S80 with 130k miles is having some A/C problems.
A/C works fine ....for a little bit. When the car is idling at a red light, or I stop for any reason and leave the car running for a very short while (drive thru Starbucks, etc.) the blowing air turns from cold to warm.
I've taken the car in twice. I just picked it up 2 days ago and they did a A/C check and put in more freon. Problem has returned and now I don't even have to be at a light or stopped for any reason. It just starts to blow intermittently from cold to warm.
I have always had car serviced at the Volvo dealer where I purchased. I am original owner.
Help. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
We don't do frustrated, only totally confused
.
There are so many sensors etc. on your AC system that Volvo put in a diagnostic unit. However, the unit can only be accessed by the correct diagnostic tool - Volvo dealer of course. If you have been having trouble with the AC and told the dealer he should have had the fault codes read. Of course that is the easy way and Volvo dealers are not known for going that route.
Next time it happens try to pull over and quickly open the hood and look at the black pipes by the body at the bottom of the windshield. See if they are iced or frozen. If so then you have a bad Evap temp sensor. It is not too hard a job to do.
Bill.
