After a motorway trip of approximately 40 miles today, I pulled off the motorway onto an uphill off slip road / ramp and stopped at traffic lights. I took my foot off the brake (still in drive) and the car juddered uphill with no throttle. I've not noticed this before - is it a particular symptom of the gearbox slipping or something else?
The car has had plenty of drain and fills recently and ive added Lubegard Red.
No flares or slipping otherwise but the gearbox feels clunky on / off throttle.
Just wondering if this is a sign of things to come and that the clutch packs are breaking down?

If the idle RPM isn't higher than normal and the car moves uphill on its own at idle with no brake this would mean the TCC lockup isn't releasing all the way. When you had your foot on the brake before releasing it was the idle RPM low? Has your car ever stalled when coming to a stop? Its never stalled and I didn't notice the revs being higher than usual.
Normally it would hold itself on a slight incline or roll backwards a tiny amount before applying the accelerator if the incline was too steep. This time it juddered and crept forward slightly when doing so.
The torque converter seems to lock up fine around 50mph and I think occasionally at 40mph when driving slower, I'd have to check that, but it definitely locks at 50 and sometimes feels like its changing into another gear.
I am guessing the TCC lockup could be a cause of the clunky on/off throttle, it feels like it doesn't smooth out the transition properly - almost like being heavy with the clutch it a manual car and just bringing your foot up too quickly to bang the drive back in...

This is a Lubegard effect. In past couple of years I usually replenish older, tired, but still clean ATF with HFM when the transmission starts to shift harsher, like it has got Toyota T-IV or Mobil 3309, which are weaker on a friction modifier content. Every time the transmission gets HFM, it accelerates noticeably better with the torque converted unlocked.
Red has a weaker effect, but is more safe to use, since it's easy to oversaturate ATF with HFM (it was just over 2 oz in my case).

I noticed that the initial effects of the Lubegard seem to have diminished. I drove another 200 miles today and it didn't do it again, so perhaps an isolated incident.
What I do know, is that the driveshaft bolts still keep coming loose and i have nipped both sides up which smoothed things out a touch.
I really need to get around to doing the two hydraulic engine mounts which I have on the shelf too.
I added a full bottle of lubegard red with a drain & fill last time. Probably wait another few thousand miles to do another. Would it be safe to add another bottle of red then?

Which one exactly? Their web site lists more than 1 compatible ATF.
Volvo original ATF has viscosity in cSt@100 range of 7.5-7.7 and an additive pack richer than in most of other JWD3309-compatible ATFs. Cheaper alternative is to buy ATF with thickness close to OE and add Lubegard.
