2011 XC 60 sun roof "dead"

Post by gthdrums »

Recently had battery on 2011 XC 60 disconnected at dealer for several weeks while awaiting parts for ignition repairs. Upon receiving car back found sunroof not working. No motor sound when activating the switch. Fuse looks fine. No previous sunroof issues at all. Had not used sunroof in several months. Contacted the dealer hoping for a computer reset but was told there was none that would resolve this issue. Dealer wants $169 to diagnose the problem. Any thoughts?

I had the same issue happen to me when I got mine back from the service center sun roof and media player didn’t work. I fixed it by completely disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it and it reset everything. Hopefully this helps

What model XC 60 do you have? I have a 2011 and disconnecting the battery did not work for me. Another post I saw said the ignition needed to be set in the second position (accessories on) when battery is disconnected. I had everything off when I did the disconnect. I also tried putting the key in the drivers door and locking and unlocking the door several times and tripping the alarm and shutting it off but no luck?

Follow up on 2011 XC60 "dead sun roof. I repeated the battery disconnect maneuver but this time first inserted the key and place the ignition in the first {accessories on} position before disconnecting both cables from the battery. Waited about 5 minutes and rehooked the cables and the sun roof worked fine! Didn't lose the clock or radio settings and everything else seems to be fine. Saved myself the $169 evaluation fee the dealer wanted to diagnose the problem and then tell me what it might cost to fix it!
