I would read this post viewtopic.php?t=71446 and the super-fantastic pdf that is linked to down near the bottom of the thread.
That pdf is the same one from http://volvospeed.com/volvo_repairs_how ... rvice.html
Also: many have stopped a P80 car rack from leaking by switching the PS fluid to Mobil 1 synthetic ATF or Valvoline MaxLife ATF.

I found this youtube video. It shows how to remove the wire seen in the photo. You must turn a special "stopper" anti clockwise. This drives the wire out of the slot. The technician made a bar that fit into 2 of the 4 slots of the stopper.
Hope this helps someone who wishes to rebuild their own steering rack.

The guy who made that video is justifiably proud of the fact that his CNC milling machine has a fully operational automatic tool changer. When mine is working right I still stand there watching it in slack jawed wonder. It never gets old.

That’s a marker for me that this repair maybe just a bit out of my scope of possibility…850oldschool wrote: ↑18 Jun 2022, 12:36 The guy who made that video is justifiably proud of the fact that his CNC milling machine has a fully operational automatic tool changer.
