This sounds like a Most Excellent Adventure. Once you get into the teeth of it, start a thread on your progress.
Robert has mentioned the pedal issue before, but I don't recall the details, so that would need more study. If you can find an 850M in the scrap yard, getting the entire pedal assembly might be the best bet - and don't forget the switchgear as well.

He'll need 850 pedals for sure. I'm not sure if the shifter assy will transfer over either. At least not easily.

+1 on holding onto the donor car, unless space is an issue. If so, harvest absolutely everything you can carry - ask abscate about the do-not-leave items too.

I've got the swap megathread saved and bookmarked and I'm pretty much going off of that for all the manual swap bits I need from the car that are external to the transmission.

I'm also going off my dad's knowledge of these cars, as he's worked for Volvo in one capacity or another for nearly 30 years.
Sounds like you have a good support system in place.
I think Neil has mentioned that our Close Cousins in the North got more manual transmission cars than we did, so finding an 850M in a salvage yard might be marginally easier for you.
One possible source for the pedal and shifter bits might be rspi, but he's a little distracted at the moment with his wife's health issues. He might still be able to give a bit of advice, and maybe he could use a little break to chat/text about manual swaps.
Either PM him through the forum, or his direct contact info is on his website, https://robertdiy.com/

From what I've read on other threads, I can mount the clutch on to the auto pedal box and then swap the actual pedal tops so I have the smaller break pedal that a manual car would come with. It should just be one bolt and then I just mount the clutch lines as one normally would with an 850M pedal box.
